27. November 2008 Wine tasting - Bordeaux Special
For the last tasting in this year we are going to taste something special. Have you ever wondered how a 1er Grand Cru from Bordeaux compares to a lesser Chateau? The complete line up for this tasting is not yet known but we can already promise: Cht. Pavie Premier Grand Cru 1986, Cht. Leoville Poyferre 2em Grand Cru 1986, Cht. Du Puy 1998.

30. October 2008 Wine tasting - Piemonte Special
We are going to taste: white: Cortese 2007, red: Barbaresco 1997, 1998, 2000, 2003, 2004.
This is a special vertical tasting where we are going to taste the same wine from different years and see whether we can detect a difference. Barbaresco is, together with Barolo, the great wine from the Piemonte in Italy. The grape variety used is Nebbiolo and it will be very interesting to see how this wine ages, and whether the wine tells us something about the different climatic conditions.
25. September 2008 Wine tasting - Alsace Special
We are going to taste: Pinot Auxerrois, a comparison between a Riesling Grand Cru Pfingstberg 1988 and 2001, Riesling Clos Liebenberg, Muscat, Gewuerztraminer and Pinot Noir.
Contribution €15.00
About the comparison: the Riesling 1988 was still a nice wine but till the 2001 had a flavour of pink grapfruit this had more lemon taste, altogether had less fruitiness.

06. August 2008. 8.30pm Art exhibition opening
Local Kilkenny artist Mary Hickey exhibits her colorful oil, acrylic, watercolor painting in various themes. And the Kilkenny Jazz Quintet took our invitation to play music for the evening.
04. June 2008. 8.30pm Wine tasting
It doesn’t feel like it, it doesn’t look like it but we are approaching Summer. Therefore, let’s get ready for the warm days and do a tasting of Roses and pink sparkling wine. Admission € 10.00. We will taste Rose from Italy, Switzerland, France, Spain, spakling wine from France and Italy.
All the wines are available and on our website.
01. Jun 2008. 8pm – 11pm. Jazz eve with Jim Hart.
We are delighted to present to you Jim Hart. The BBC Jazz review writes about him: “Amongst the starlets included in the collective is Jim Hart, a Cornwall-born multi-instrumentalist, who won the 2006 British Jazz award for 'Rising star', and who has mixed it up with everyone from the National Youth Jazz Orchestra (for whom he played drums for a couple of years) to hipsters like The Herbaliser and Shaun Escoffery.”
Jim will be accompanied by his brother Ed who plays the trumpet. Jim and Ed will also bring along a few friends who will join the session with guitar, drum and vocals.
It was a great success!!!

An evening of jazz with Carole Nelson, piano. Carole Nelson is a London born composer, performer, songwriter, arranger, producer and teacher currently living in Co Carlow. An accomplished jazz improvising pianist and jazz saxophonist. She is currently performing with the group Zrazy and teaching saxophone, jazz piano and voice.
30. April 2008. First wine tasting
We presented wines from Spain and compared the traditional Macabeo grape with a Chardonnay.
Tasted the difference between wines from Valdepenas, Rioja and Navarra and finally compared two wines made with the same grape variety but from different regions. At the end we closed the evening with a glass of Cava.
